Pursuing a New Goal

Yogi Berra once said, "If you don't know where you are going, you might wind up someplace else.  "But if your' like to many of us, it can sometimes be difficult to stay focused on a goal.

  • Make your goal specific.
The problem with many of our goals is tht they are too vague and cannot be properly measured over time.  It is much easier to make progress when you know exactly what you are going to do.  Try using the formula of goal+action=success.
  • Make it positive.
Write your goal down using "I will" statements, not "I won't."  When you work toward what you want in life- instead of what you want to leave behind-you'll see more positive results.
  • Set a time frame.
Include a specific date when you will start working toward your goal and a projected date when you will reach your goal.  When you are working toward a goal with a deadline, it will be easy to measure your progress and determine whether you are on track or if you need to make some modifications to your expectations.
